TOEFL Syllabus
The TOEFL iBT Syllabus for students comprises reading, writing, listening, and speaking tests. We have explained the TOEFL Ibt test in detail :
TOEFL Exam Syllabus: Reading
TOEFL Reading section will require you to read 3-4 passages and answer 10 questions on each passage. Scores on this section are based on the number of correct reading comprehension responses.
Question type:
- 3–4 passages, 10 questions each
- Total no. of questions: About 30-40
- Total time: 54-72 minutes
2.TOEFL Exam Syllabus: Listening
TOEFL Listeningsection will require you to hear lectures and conversations, based on university campus language. This section aims to understand the candidates ability to comprehend conversations and classroom lectures in English.
Question type:
- 3–4 lectures (3-5 minutes long, about 500-800 words), 6 questions each
- 2–3 conversations (about 3 minutes long, about 12-25 exchanges), 5 questions each
- Total time: 41–57 minutes
3.TOEFL Exam Syllabus: Speaking
In the TOEFL Speaking test you have to read, listen and speak different topics with minor mistakes made. The test takers look for a convincing and impressive conversation.
Question type:
- 1 independent task (prep time: 15 sec; response time: 45 sec)
- 3 integrated tasks – Read/Listen/Speak
- Total no. of questions: 4
- Total time: 17 minutes
4.TOEFL Exam Syllabus: Writing
TOEFL Writing has two essays. Students should address these two topics differently using relevant explanations and judgements. To achieve maximum scores on this section make minimum errors and use excellent grammatical and vocabulary skills.
Question type:
- 1 integrated task – Read/Listen/Write (20 minutes) (reading time: 3 min; Listening time: 2 min; writing: 15 min)
- 1 independent task (30 minutes)

4.Verbal Reasoning Syllabus
The GMAT Verbal Reasoning syllabus assesses a candidate’s reading and comprehension skills through arguments, essays, and sentence correction rules. The duration of this section is 65 minutes. The verbal reasoning section has 36 multiple choice questions divided into
GMAT Critical Reasoning- this section measures your ability to understand arguments and create an action plan. You are required to provide an answer either supporting an argument or criticizing it, albeit in a proper analytical manner.
GMAT Reading Comprehension- candidates are tested on the basis of the following reading skills: inference, main idea, application, logical structure, and style. The aim is to understand the developments of quant concepts and logical relationships between significant points.
GMAT Sentence Correction- this section measures your usage of the English language. you are judged on the basis of your choice of vocabulary, choice of words, grammar, sentence construction, etc.
